About 500 thousand ethnic Kyrgyz live in peace and harmony, in the spirit of the principles of generosity and brotherhood in the multinational family of Uzbekistan, deputy head of the Kyrgyz Cultural Center of Uzbekistan, responsible for Kyrgyz schools in the methodical center of the Ministry of National Education of Uzbekistan, Abiba Yunusalieva told.

"Currently, the Kyrgyz cultural centers of Tashkent, Andijan, Namangan, Ferghana, Zhizak, Syrdarya, are carrying out large-scale work on studying their native language, preserving national values, history, culture, promoting the ideas of interethnic harmony and generosity. More than 18,000 children of ethnic Kyrgyz are studying in 56 general Kyrgyz schools," Yunusalieva said at an international scientific and practical conference in Tashkent.

She also said that in consonance with the great historical traditions of tolerance, representatives of more than 130 nations who live in Uzbekistan are guaranteed freedom of conscience and religion, education in their native language, preservation of their national traditions and spiritual values.

The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Interfaith Dialogue and Religious Tolerance - Guarantee of Stability of Society" was organized at Tashkent Islamic University in connection with the International Tolerance Day, which is celebrated in accordance with the resolution of the UN General Assembly since 1997.

Currently, there are about 2,250 organizations in Uzbekistan, belonging to 16 religious confessions, 140 national cultural centers.
