Atambayev asks forgiveness from people of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Nov. 24, 2017 / Kabar/. Ex-president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev asked forgiveness from the people if he did not justify their trust during the inauguration ceremony of new President of the country Sooronbai Zheenbekov.

He said that the new president had assumed office and that his work as president had now ended. He thanked the people of Kyrgyzstan, his supporters, his wife and children for their support. Atambayev also stressed the help of international organizations and donors.

"All this time, Kyrgyzstan has experienced severe hardships. But these hardships only tempered us. We have become stronger. And after 6 years, we can say that we have passed the most difficult path in the history of Kyrgyzstan. Today we can say that the country is truly an independent country," he said.

"I did not enough time to do what I had planned. If I have not justified your trust, then forgive me. But I tried to make the life of the Kyrgyz people easier and better," he added.

Atambayev expressed hope that Sooronbai Zheenbekov would continue the chosen path of Kyrgyzstan.

"I am confident that Sooronbai Sharipovich will work honestly and fairly. I always believed in the wisdom of our people and I was convinced during the last elections," he added.
