Bishkek, Dec. 5, 2017 / Kabar /. Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov today met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan Komil Rashidov, the parliament’s press service reported.

Dzhumabekov welcomed the Ambassador and noted that this meeting is a good opportunity to exchange views on key issues of developing friendly bilateral relations. "Kyrgyzstan pays a special attention to the importance of further deepening partnership with Uzbekistan on the basis of mutual trust and respect," he stressed.

Speaker stressed with satisfaction the fact that the measures taken and the documents signed within the framework of mutual state visits by the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan brought bilateral relations to a new level of cooperation. “Soon colleagues from the Parliament of Uzbekistan will attend the TurkPA meeting as honorable guests” noted the speaker.

Rashidov thanked the speaker for the opportunity to meet with him. “It is essential for Uzbekistan as well to further develop relations and to expand contacts on the whole range of issues on the basis of mutually beneficial cooperation”, Rashidov noted. The sides discussed both current and further prospects of Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation development, as well as a number of other issues of mutual interest.

"I want to note that at this time the Uzbek side is building a modern school in Osh with a specially designed program. We believe that the school will become a symbol of our friendship," said the Uzbek Ambassador. Kyrgyz Speaker highlighted the importance of trade and economic relations with Uzbekistan. Based on high-level talks held in Bishkek and Tashkent in September-October, the Presidents of two countries set the task to increase the trade turnover to $ 500 million.

“The development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the sides also plays a very important role in strengthening the relations between the two countries”, said the speaker in conclusion. Speaker also added that in early 2018 the Kyrgyz side plans to hold Days of Culture and Arts of Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan.
