Bishkek, Nov. 10, 2017. / Kabar/. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federico Mogherini.
Isakov greeted Mogherini and said that the arrival of a man of this rank in Kyrgyzstan indicates that the European Union supports the democratic reforms that are taking place in the country.
"It is important for us, taking into account where today is in Kyrgyzstan. Today we are an island of democracy in the region. We carried out constitutional reforms, according to which the system of checks and balances in our country increased. The powers of the government and, accordingly, of the parliament are strengthened," he said.
The Prime Minister also noted that presidential elections were held in Kyrgyzstan successfully.
"I especially want to emphasize that the elections are unique, because they were held with the use of biometric data. And just after the closure of polling stations, people witnessed that preliminary results were given in 30-40 minutes. This is also the great merit of the European Union," said Isakov and once again greeted Federica Mogherini in Bishkek.
In turn, Mogherini congratulated Sapar Isakov on his appointment to the post of prime minister.
"I know that you supported the idea of this electoral system. We are happy to support you in the government and economy. And we are striving to improve cooperation and start negotiations for a new agreement, "she said.
