Bishkek, Apr. 12, 2018 / Kabar /. Prime Minister Sapar Isakov met with Arkady Merkulov, Regional Safety Expert for the European and North Atlantic Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The meeting was held following the agreement of the Kyrgyz Prime Minister with ICAO Secretary General Fan Liu on Jan. 24, 2018, as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland).
The sides discussed the development of the domestic sphere of civil aviation.
The Prime Minister noted that today active measures are being taken to improve this sector. He said that during the reform of the civil aviation sphere, the shortage of qualified personnel and expertise in this direction was noticed.
In this regard, Sapar Isakov expressed interest in deepening cooperation with ICAO to improve the skills of aviation workers and exchange experience on the development of the industry as a whole.
ICAO Regional Expert Arkady Merkulov said that at the moment the main priority in the activities of the Organization is to ensure the safety of flights.
He emphasized the country's great aviation potential, for the further development of which structural changes are necessary.
Arkady Merkulov made a presentation on the analysis of the current situation in the country and measures to achieve economic growth through the development of aviation.
He said that ICAO is ready to assist Kyrgyzstan at the expert level for conducting various trainings and training events for aviation workers.
Sapar Isakov instructed to create a working group from among the representatives of relevant state bodies and consider the possibility of including ICAO representatives for consultations on the development of aviation in the country.
