Uzbek experts will help Kyrgyz farmers grow cotton

Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2017 / Kabar /.Conference on the theme "Improving the possibilities of growing cotton and its implementation" took place in Osh city. Farmers of Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken oblasts, representatives of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture and Melioration and representatives of Uzbek seed-growing enterprises participated in this event.

During the conference, farmers of southern Kyrgyzstan will be taught on modern theoretical and practical skills and methods of growing cotton.

The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Melioration Erkinbek Chodoyev stressed that one of the goals of holding such conferences is to increase the amount of cotton growing in Kyrgyzstan, as this industry was forgotten by us. "I am sure that in 2018-2019 the volume of cotton growing will increase in Kyrgyzstan, since we are making a lot of effort on it and we are conducting such conferences jointly with Uzbek specialists," he said.

Kyrgyzstan produced 67 thousand tons of cotton in 2017. The Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture plans to purchase 500 tons of cotton seeds from farmers in Uzbekistan, which will later help local specialists and farmers in cultivating their grade cotton. Uzbekistan is one of the leading countries to export white gold in large quantities.
