Bishkek, Dec. 4, 2017. /Kabar/. Terrorism and extremism remain the most urgent threats for Kyrgyzstan. President Sooronbai Zheenbekov said during the meeting with chairman of the State Committee for National Security Abdil Segizbayev.

During the meeting, Zheenbekov was informed about measures to ensure national security and current activities of the State Committee, as well as to combat terrorism and religious extremism.

"The competent authorities as a whole manage to counter existing challenges and threats in the sphere of terrorism and religious extremism. But since these threats are of a long-term nature, it is necessary to strengthen work in this direction," Zheenbekov said.

He also said that now it is necessary to strengthen preventive work among adherents of radical currents, pay close attention to the spread of extremist ideology in social networks, strengthen work on information counteraction to terrorism and extremism, develop a unified strategy, including information strategy.

In addition, the head of state stressed that the continuation of a merciless fight against corruption in state bodies should be a priority of the State Committee for National Security.

"The work of the Security Committee should be aimed at intensifying the fight against corruption in law enforcement, judicial bodies and other state structures," Zheenbekov said.
