Bishkek, Oct. 9, 2020 / Kabar /. The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kyrgyzstan announced invalidated by its decree the results of the parliamentary elections held on Oct. 4, 2020, the CEC of the Kyrgyz Republic said.
In accordance with the constitutional Law “On elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic”, if the elections are declared invalid and the candidate, political parties are not elected based on the voting results, then a repeated elections are appointed. Repeated elections within one month are set by the Central Election Commission and are held by the respective election commissions.
Thus, the Central Election Commission will take a decision till Nov. 6 on the date of the repeated parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan.
The CEC annulled the election results amid protests organized by members of political parties, which lost the parliamentary elections.
16 political parties took part in the elections. According to preliminary results of the elections, four parties -- Birimdik, Mekenim Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyzstan Party, Butun Kyrgyzstan -- crossed the 7 percent threshold to enter the parliament.
