Bishkek, Oct.23, 2019. /Kabar/. Today, Oct. 23 President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe.
At the meeting, held in Tokyo, the prospects of Kyrgyz-Japanese bilateral cooperation were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.
Shinzō Abe said he was pleased to meet Sooronbay Jeenbekov for the first time, and expressed his gratitude for the warm words of support in connection with the victims of the consequences of the typhoon that hit Japan the day before.
The Japanese PM stressed with satisfaction the developing ties with Kyrgyzstan in the sphere of inter-parliamentary relations, economic and cultural-humanitarian interaction.
Abe also expressed readiness to intensify cooperation in many areas, including in the field of high quality technologies.
Jeenbekov congratulated the Japanese people on the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito, noting that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the development of comprehensive cooperation with Japan.
The Kyrgyz President expressed interest in activating mutually beneficial economic cooperation, noting the great potential in the field of small and medium businesses, and stressed with satisfaction the growing interest of Japanese companies in the implementation of business projects in Kyrgyzstan.
“We have good opportunities for the construction of small hydropower plants. In order to develop cooperation in the energy sector, we are ready to send a delegation to Japan in the near future,” Jeenbekov said.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov noted Kyrgyzstan, as a member of the EAEU and holder of the status of GSP+, has export potential and needs to improve infrastructure, in particular the construction of phytosanitary laboratories.
The Kyrgyz leader invited the Japanese PM to visit Kyrgyzstan at a convenient time.
Shinzō Abe was pleased to accept Sooronbay Jeenbekov's invitation.
