The Kabar National News Agency is the official state news agency of the Kyrgyz Republic and the country’s first news agency. It was established in 1937 by a resolution of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Kyrgyz SSR as the Kyrgyz Telegraph Agency (KyrTAG). During the years of independence, the agency was reorganized several times, and since 2001 it has operated under its current name, the Kabar Kyrgyz National News Agency.
Today, the Kabar agency provides timely and reliable information about major developments in Kyrgyzstan’s domestic and foreign policy, economy, culture, science, sports, and public life. The agency’s materials are published in Kyrgyz, Russian, English, Turkish, Chinese, and Arabic, helping to present the country’s information landscape to an international audience.
One of the main tasks of the Kabar agency is to deliver official information from state authorities to the public in a timely manner and to strengthen Kyrgyzstan’s international reputation in the information sphere. The agency regularly organizes media briefings and press conferences with the participation of representatives of government institutions, international organizations, diplomatic missions, the business community, and civil society.
The Kabar agency cooperates with numerous foreign news agencies. It is also a member of international information organizations and implements a number of agreements on information exchange.
