Kyrgyz ambassador proposes to erect monument to Aitmatov in Korean city of Khanam

Bishkek, Feb. 10, 2025. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to South Korea Aida Ismailova met with Mayor of the city of Khanam Lee Hyunjae on Friday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. that during the meeting the sides discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on key areas of interaction.

The ambassador noted the high level of development of the urban environment, especially in the field of sustainable development and digital education. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in expanding interregional cooperation, including the establishment of sister city relations between the cities of Kyrgyzstan and Khanam.

The sides also discussed the signing of sister city agreements, economic cooperation, including trade, investment and the opening of joint ventures, and the promotion of tourist exchanges.

In addition, as part of strengthening cultural ties, the ambassador proposed considering the possibility of installing a monument to the great Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov in the city of Khanam, which will become a symbol of friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples. The parties expressed confidence that the dialogue between Kyrgyzstan and the city of Khanam will contribute to the deepening of bilateral relations and will bring mutual benefit.
