Kyrgyz transport minister discusses cooperation with UNECE

Bishkek, Feb. 11, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Transport and Communications Minister Absattar Syrgabaev met with UNECE Executive Secretary Tatyana Molchan within the framework of the 87th meeting of the UN Committee.

The Transport Ministry reported that the sides discussed the issues of joining multilateral conventions and agreements in the field of transport, in particular, the agreement on the carriage of dangerous goods.

They also discussed issues of reducing the negative impact of transport on the environment, the use of digital solutions.

Tatyana Molchan thanked Minister Absattar Syrgabaev for the efforts taken to implement European agreements in the field of transport and expressed interest in continuing cooperation.

Absattar Syrgabaev also took part in a meeting of the UN Special Program for the Economy of Central Asia (SPECA).

In his speech, the minister noted that the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is one of the priority projects for Kyrgyzstan.

Absattar Syrgabaev added that Kyrgyzstan supports such initiatives as the creation of new transport corridors, the removal of obstacles and barriers and the use of modern solutions in international transportation.

The conference, which is being held in Geneva (Switzerland), is attended by representatives of 56 countries. It discusses ongoing reforms and projects to digitalize the multimodal transport system in the SPECA member countries, efforts to develop digital transport corridors.
