Kyrgyzstan moves from 71st to 24th in world security rating – minister

Bishkek, Jan.29, 2025. /Kabar/. “Kyrgyzstan has risen from 71st to 24th place in the world security rating,” Interior Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Niyazbekov said at a collegial meeting on the results of 2024.

The event was attended by Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov, first deputy and deputy ministers, commanders of internal troops, Shumkar special purpose regiment, heads of main departments and services of the central apparatus, E. Aliyev Academy of the Interior Ministry, independent subdivisions, the press service of the Interior Ministry reported.

Heads of regional and city departments of internal affairs, their deputies and heads of district police departments also took part in the meeting.

The meeting considered the results of operational and service activities of the internal affairs bodies for 2024; results of measures to ensure road safety; work with citizens' appeals and the quality of their consideration; improvement of service to the population, as well as the approval of plans and strategic objectives of the ministry for the near future.

Ulan Niyazbekov summarized the work of the ministry for the year.

“During the reporting year, significant steps were taken to strengthen operational and service activities, introduce modern digital technologies and solve a number of urgent problems. As a result of these efforts, the crime rate in the country in 2024 has decreased, and crime detection has significantly improved,” he said.

The minister noted that over the past year it was possible to improve public order, ensure equal observance of legal norms and increase the efficiency of police work. New approaches to the work of law enforcement agencies were created, aimed at protecting the population from modern threats and increasing the level of security. Thanks to these transformations, it was possible to establish quality service to citizens and increase the speed of response to appeals.

The head of the Interior Ministry noted that the strengthening of the material and technical base continues, modern technological devices are purchased, new buildings are constructed and comfortable working conditions for employees are created.

The Collegium outlined the key areas of work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2025.

During the meeting, Ulan Niyazbekov also dwelt on the changes in legislation related to the fight against corruption. He noted that penalties for persons suspected of corruption have been toughened.

Concluding his speech, the minister emphasized that the main goal of these measures is to completely eradicate corruption and ensure favorable conditions for the country's economic growth.
