327 Kyrgyz civil servants trained in Japan

Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2026. /Kabar/. Director of the State Agency for Civil Service and Local Self-Government Affairs Elchibek Zhantaev met with the Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan Hirano Ryuichi.

According to the agency, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of human resource development, in particular the results of the JDS scholarship program implemented jointly with JICA and JICE.

As reported, within the framework of the JDS project, specialists were trained for master's and doctoral programs in the 20th group, and the Japanese government allocated a grant of 399 million yen.

In 2006-2025, 327 state and municipal employees of Kyrgyzstan, as well as 28 specialists through the "Young Leaders" program, received training in Japan.

At the meeting, it was proposed to expand the quota of the JDS program to 50 places, and the "Young Leaders" program to 10 places. Ambassador Hirano Ryuichi expressed his readiness to convey relevant proposals to the Japanese side.

In conclusion, it was noted that 2026 will be an important year for bilateral cooperation, as it will mark the 20th anniversary of the JDS program and the 25th anniversary of JICA's representation in Kyrgyzstan.
