Bishkek, July 10, 2026. /Kabar/. About 20,000 tourists from South Korea visit Kyrgyzstan annually, South Korean Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Kim Kwangjae told at the meeting with media representatives.
According to him, so-called "K-tourism" (Kyrgyz tourism) has recently gained immense popularity in South Korea. This trend is largely due to YouTube videos, which are garnering millions of views.
"Koreans have become captivated by Kyrgyzstan, learning more about it, and eagerly come here. Popular Korean bloggers frequently visit the country, and their videos about Kyrgyzstan generate great interest among their audiences," the diplomat noted.
The ambassador also noted that his compatriots most often choose tried-and-true routes. The top most popular destinations include Cholpon-Ata, Son-Kul Lake, Barskoon Gorge, Karakol, and the Altyn-Arashan resort.
"Koreans are very fond of mountain tourism, so Kyrgyzstan's natural environment is ideal for them," Kim Kwangjae concluded.
