Ankara, Oct. 30, 2026 /Kabar/. A panel discussion titled “Women in Diplomacy in the Turkic World” was held as part of the Turkic World Dialogue Forum in Ankara, focusing on the role of women in the political and diplomatic life of Turkic states, expanding intergovernmental dialogue and strengthening humanitarian ties.
The forum was organized by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of Türkiye.
Kyrgyzstan was represented at the discussion by Gulnara Botokanova, vice president of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy and professor.
She noted that respect for women, their voices and their active participation in public life holds an important place in the historical and spiritual heritage of the Kyrgyz people and Turkic civilization as a whole.
Participants emphasized the need for Turkic states to join efforts to expand opportunities for women in science, education, diplomacy and public affairs.
Botokanova proposed establishing a Network of Women Scientists and Innovators of the Turkic World based at the academies of sciences of countries in the region. The platform is expected to promote joint research projects, internships and exchanges of experience in science, education and innovation.
Participants also proposed expanding academic and diplomatic mobility programs, increasing the number of grants and creating more opportunities for professional exchanges among young female researchers, diplomats and public opinion leaders.
Another area of cooperation highlighted was the preservation and promotion of the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Turkic world. This includes joint humanitarian and cultural projects that combine traditional values with modern perspectives on women's rights and opportunities.
According to Botokanova, strengthening cooperation in these areas would help create a common humanitarian space, expand professional contacts and enhance the role of women in the public and international life of Turkic states.
Participants stressed the importance of increasing women's participation in diplomacy and decision-making. They expressed hope that women across the Turkic world would make an even greater contribution to regional development, drawing on shared values and goals.
