Bishkek, April 6, 2026. /Kabar/. The Asian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships are underway in Bishkek. Following the morning session, several Kyrgyz athletes advanced to the semifinals.
Asan Zhanyshov delivered a stunning performance in the 87 kg weight class. In the quarterfinals, the Kyrgyzstani left no chance for Turkmenistan's Dovletmurat Bayramov, winning 10-0 in just 30 seconds. Zhanyshov will face experienced Kazakhstani wrestler Nursultan Tursynov in the finals.
Ulan Muratbek uulu (55 kg) also started in the quarterfinals, where he defeated Jordanian Ahmad Khaled Mahmud 2-1 in a close fight. He will face Ikhtiyor Botirov of Uzbekistan in the semifinals.
In a thrilling quarterfinal bout, Avtandil Taalaibek uulu (63 kg) defeated Japanese athlete Kaisei Tanabe. The Kyrgyzstani's next opponent will be Azatjan Achilov of Turkmenistan.
Earlier, team leader Akzhol Makhmudov also advanced to the semifinals. Thus, four representatives of Kyrgyzstan continue to compete for gold at the continental championship.
The semifinal matches will begin today at 6:00 PM.
