Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan eye expansion of seismology cooperation

Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, Director General of the Republican Seismic Survey Center (RSSC) under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), is visiting Tashkent from September 8 to 12 to participate in working meetings organized by the G.A. Mavlonov Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, AZERTAG reported.

The visit aims to outline key areas of scientific cooperation under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the RSSC and the Institute of Seismology. Discussions focus on joint research in seismology, seismic monitoring, the study of seismogenic processes, experience sharing, and expanding bilateral cooperation in earthquake forecasting.

As part of the visit, Professor Yetirmishli met with Professor Vakhitkhan Ismailov, Director of the G.A. Mavlonov Institute of Seismology.

During the meeting, the sides highlighted the brotherly and allied ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, pointing to extensive cooperation between their respective seismological centers. They emphasized that Azerbaijani and Uzbek seismologists continue to deepen collaboration both bilaterally and within international seismological organizations.
