Bishkek, Aug 6, 2026 /Kabar/. The 161-kilometer Barskoon-Bedel road will be a two-lane asphalt concrete road. Cai Yu, Deputy General Director of the China Road and Bridge Corporation in Kyrgyzstan told during Kyrgyz-Chinese press tour.

He noted that construction is scheduled to be fully completed and the project commissioned in 2030.

"The route will pass through challenging high-altitude terrain, primarily at an altitude of over 3,000 meters above sea level. The project envisions the construction of more than 50 bridges, including three large ones, as well as two tunnels and one interchange," Cai Yu said.

He emphasized that the largest structure will be the 360-meter-long and 80-meter-high bridge across the Barskoon River. Once completed, it will be the largest bridge in Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, a 287-meter bridge across the Taragai River and a 417-meter bridge across the Kara-Sai River will be built.

"The project also includes two tunnels. Tunnel No. 1, Sook located on the Sook Pass, will be 5,340 meters long. Tunnel No. 2, Ashuu-Suu located on the Ashuu-Suu Pass, will be 3,788 meters long. Both tunnels will be equipped with modern lighting systems," he emphasized.

Cai Yu added that there will be a five-year warranty after completion.
