Bishkek, July 24, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan's Batken region governor Mamyrzhan Rakhimov and Governor of the Fergana Region of Uzbekistan Khairullo Bozarov held a working meeting in Shakhimardan, where they discussed the further development of bilateral cooperation.
According to Batken oblast administration, the parties discussed expanding trade and economic ties between the Batken and Fergana regions. Building on the agreements previously reached between Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a decision was made to update the comprehensive cooperation roadmap, expanding it to include new areas of collaboration.
One of the key topics of the talks was the development of the tourism industry. The parties agreed to intensify joint efforts to develop the Shakhimardan recreation area in Uzbekistan and the Dugaba recreation area in Kyrgyzstan as a single free tourism zone, as well as to create more favorable conditions for border crossings through the two regions' checkpoints.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed the construction of refrigerated logistics centers for the export and import of agricultural products, the efficient use of pastures, and other areas of cross-border cooperation.
Special attention was paid to the work of the joint Kyrgyz-Uzbek commission to determine the citizenship of residents of exchanged border villages, their resettlement, and the settlement of property, economic, and other related issues.
