Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. Vaccination prevents diseases, helps children avoid missing school, protects families from unexpected expenses, and reduces the burden on the healthcare system. Ana Dutovic, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Kyrgyzstan, stated at press conference held at Kabar news agency.
According to her, vaccination is one of the most cost-effective public health measures.

"Data from Europe and Central Asia show that every US dollar invested in immunization can yield an economic return of between 48 and 76 US dollars by preventing costs associated with illness. Therefore, vaccination is not merely a health issue but an investment in the country's future. Before receiving World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification, every vaccine undergoes a rigorous assessment to confirm it meets the requirements for use in national immunization programs," said Ana Dutovic.
It should be noted that vaccine safety and quality are monitored at multiple levels. As revealed during the press conference, Kyrgyzstan procures vaccines through the UNICEF international mechanism. Only products that meet international quality standards and have undergone WHO prequalification are approved for supply. Within the country, vaccines also undergo relevant registration and control procedures, and their storage and transport are carried out in strict compliance with "cold chain" requirements.
Vaccines undergo both international and state oversight, and the government allocates significant funds for their procurement. In 2025, more than 397 million soms were allocated in Kyrgyzstan for the purchase of vaccines and supplies, including funds from the national budget and support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
