Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2026 /Kabar/. A meeting took place today in Seoul, South Korea, between Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Dzhunushaliev, and Mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-hoon.
The Bishkek Mayor’s Office reported that the meeting was held within the framework of President Sadyr Zhaparov's official visit to South Korea and the first "Central Asia – Republic of Korea" summit.
Following the meeting, the mayors of Bishkek and Seoul signed a memorandum of understanding to establish sister-city relations between the two capitals.
The document creates a foundation for developing direct inter-municipal cooperation and implementing joint initiatives.
Under the memorandum, the parties intend to develop cooperation in the fields of trade and the economy, science, culture, education, and urban governance; maintain contact between relevant departments; and facilitate the exchange of delegations and expertise.
The parties expressed interest in further strengthening friendly ties and developing practical, mutually beneficial cooperation between Bishkek and Seoul.
