Bishkek, Aug. 10, 2026 /Kabar/. Chinese Cinema Days will open at the Ala-Too Cinema on August 12, as part of the international project "Light and Shadow of the Silk Road."
Kyrgyz audiences will be treated to four films of varying genres – from a unique film shot in space in 8K format to one of the biggest Chinese box office hits of 2026. Admission to the screenings will be free.
The grand opening will take place at the Ala-Too Cinema at 4:30 PM. The first film in the program will be "Shenzhou 13," a film about space, shown in 8K format.
Other Chinese films will be screened in Bishkek in the coming weeks. Viewers will be introduced to contemporary Chinese culture, society, and cinema, featuring films of various genres. Films will be shown in Chinese with Russian subtitles. The schedule for subsequent screenings will be announced later.
"The Chinese Cinema Days will not be limited to film screenings alone. We plan to invite filmmakers and representatives of the film industry to the project's events, which will expand direct creative contacts between Kyrgyzstan and China," the statement says.
The project is being organized by China Media Group (CMG), with the support of the State Film Administration of China and the participation of Kyrgyz partners. A special delegation will arrive in Bishkek to participate in the opening ceremony. It will include heads and specialists from CMG's departments involved in translation, dubbing, and international promotion of television and film productions, as well as representatives of CMG working in Eurasia and Central Asia.

Shenzhou-13: Space Through the Eyes of Astronauts
The film is unique in that a significant portion of its footage was filmed directly in orbit by the Shenzhou-13 crew. During the six-month mission, astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu not only worked on the Chinese space station but also acted as camera operators, using a specially designed, ultra-high-definition 8K camera.
"The Bodyguard" marks the return of the great Chinese wuxia (martial arts genre).
After its release in China in 2026, the film became a major event in the national film market and set a box office record for Chinese wuxia films.
"Happy Train" is the story of people for whom the railway has become a part of their lives.
This is a story about people, human connection, young professionals, small towns and villages, and the role that a regular railway can play in the life of an entire region. The film became the first Chinese feature film dedicated to the phenomenon of socially significant "slow trains" connecting remote areas.
"Pegasus 3" is one of the biggest Chinese film hits of 2026.
"Pegasus 3" became the highest-grossing film of the 2026 Chinese holiday season, grossing RMB 2.927 billion (US$433.78 billion) during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
