Breeding farms demostrate steady growth in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Jan. 13, 2026. /Kabar/. State support and breeding work in the development of livestock breeding are yielding positive results, Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry reports.

According to the ministry, the total number of livestock breeding farms in the country has now reached 185. They cover all major areas of livestock farming and contribute to increased economic activity in rural areas.

Key indicators:

Cattle breeding farms – 66

Total population: 8,406 head

Sheep breeding farms – 75

Total population: 24,759 head

Horse breeding farms – 35

Total population: 1,725 ​​head

Goat breeding farms – 5

Total population: 2,704 head

Yak breeding farms – 5

Population: 1,224 head

Poultry breeding farms – 2. Total number: over 281,000 head.

"These indicators demonstrate that livestock breeding plays an important role in ensuring the country's food security and increasing export potential," the statement says.
