Bishkek, April 17, 2026. /Kabar/. The national kickboxing championship is underway in Bishkek, with approximately 300 athletes from all regions participating, Alexander Voinov, President of the Kickboxing Federation, told Kabar Agency.
According to him, this year marks the 31st time the sporting event has been held.
"The main goal of the event is to form the national team. This year, the World Cup will be held in Tashkent, and the World Youth Championship will be held in Italy. Next year, Uzbekistan will host the World Championship. It's worth noting that this will be the first time the world championship will be held in Central Asia. This is very important for us. Previously, due to the tournaments being held in Europe, America, or Brazil, we could only send a limited number of participants due to travel and other expenses. Now we have the opportunity to travel to Tashkent with our full team.
That's why we hold events like this with a large number of athletes. We've managed to assemble a team of internationally qualified judges. We see intense competition among the fighters, and competition and selection of the best are the most important factors for successful performance at the World Championships," he noted.
