Bishkek, Sept. 9, 2026 /Kabar/. More than 80 young delegates from nine countries have adopted a Regional Youth Statement on climate, water, and sustainable development, the UNISON Public Foundation reported.
The document was adopted following the RCOY Central Asia 2026 conference, held in Samarkand from September 4 to 6. The UNISON Public Foundation represented Kyrgyzstan at the event.
The statement covers 19 thematic areas, including glacier preservation, access to drinking water, food security, gender equality, health, the rights of children and persons with disabilities, the energy transition, and climate finance.
A total of 1,019 young people from seven countries participated in drafting the document. Their proposals were gathered through online surveys, national consultations, and the work of thematic groups.
The regional statement will be incorporated into the Global Youth Statement and presented at COP31 in Antalya in November 2026, as well as at the UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi in December.
