Bishkek, Aug 5, 2026 /Kabar/. As part of the Orto-Tokoy HPP construction project, Chakan HPP OJSC completed the construction of a 110 kV outdoor switchgear (OSG) and a 110 kV overhead power line (OVL-110 kV), and also installed a 25,000 kilovolt-ampere (kVA) power transformer.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the completed work is a key stage in the project's implementation and creates the necessary infrastructure to reliably transmit generated electricity to the country's power grid.
"One of the most critical and challenging stages of construction was the installation of the power line across the river. The work was carried out under conditions where water flow reached 50 cubic meters per second. Despite the challenging hydrological conditions, using specialized equipment, the overhead power line was successfully installed across the river," the ministry emphasized.
Additionally, special attention was paid to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of water for agricultural purposes. All work was completed without disrupting irrigation water supplies or shutting them off.
The project is currently ongoing, with preparatory work underway to connect the overhead power line to the NEGK JSC grid.
