Bishkek, Jan. 3, 2026 /Kabar/. The grand opening of a children's ski school took place in the village of Ak-Bulak, Ak-Suu District. The school aims to develop alpine skiing and support young athletes in the region, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Edil Baisalov participated in the opening ceremony.
"The new ski school will become an important platform for the systematic training of children and adolescents, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and developing human resources in winter sports. Ski schools should become the foundation for training not only athletes but also professional instructors who will be in demand at new ski resorts across the country. This is an investment in human capital, youth employment, and sustainable regional development. This is particularly relevant given the active development of the country's ski infrastructure," Edil Baisalov noted in his speech.
The event also included a meeting with representatives of children's and youth sports schools, coaches, and relevant specialists, dedicated to the development of winter sports. Participants discussed the state of the material and technical infrastructure, staffing, coaching training, and measures to increase the involvement of children and youth in sports. Following the meeting, priority areas for further work were identified, including infrastructure modernization, support for coaches, and the development of a network of youth sports schools in the regions.
