Bishkek, July 17, 2026. /Kabar/. One of the most unusual performances at the opening ceremony of the SCO International Film Festival in Cholpon-Ata was a performance by humanoid robots presented by the Shanghai technology company Unitree.
According to the Department of Cinematography, four robots took the stage and performed a choreographic composition, first to contemporary Chinese music, and then to Kyrgyz national melody.
The performance was included in the official festival program as a symbol of the combination of modern technology and art. Its appearance furthered the ceremony's core theme: to demonstrate that cinema unites tradition and innovation, and that cultural dialogue today is developing not only through creativity but also through new technological solutions.
The robots' performance was part of a large-scale opening concert program, which also featured the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Kyrgyz Republic, artists from the Toktogul Satylganov Kyrgyz National Philharmonic, and international performers.
"This performance particularly highlighted the participation of China, a member state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in the festival's cultural program and generated great interest among guests and participants," the statement says.
