Cholpon-Ata city to host SCO Foreign Ministers' Council meeting

Bishkek, July 23, 2026. /Kabar/. On July 24, Cholpon-Ata city will host a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, chaired by Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will be one of the key high-level events of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the Organization, which is being held under the motto "25 Years of the SCO: Together Towards Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity."

The event will be attended by the foreign ministers of SCO member states, as well as representatives of the Organization's permanent bodies.

The meeting is scheduled to discuss current issues on the international and regional agenda, the current status and prospects for developing multifaceted cooperation within SCO. Particular attention will be paid to strengthening peace, security, and stability within the Organization, expanding trade and economic cooperation, developing cultural and humanitarian ties, and enhancing the effectiveness of the SCO's activities.

Furthermore, the heads of the foreign ministries will agree on draft documents and discuss preparations for the upcoming SCO summit, which will be held in Bishkek.

The ministry noted that holding the meeting in Cholpon-Ata, which holds the status of the SCO tourism and cultural capital for 2025–2026, underscores the importance of the anniversary year for further strengthening unity, mutual trust, and cooperation among the Organization's member states.
