Baku, Oct. 1, 2026. /Kabar/. The CICA Media Forum, dedicated to the theme "Building Trust through Media in a Polarized World," has opened in Baku. Representatives of media outlets from CICA member countries are participating in the event.
Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), noted that global changes are accompanied by a transformation of the information space. According to him, in these circumstances, dialogue between countries, regional cooperation, and joint measures are particularly important.
"Regional solutions are precisely what CICA, which unites 26 countries, is dedicated to. Today, this organization has been transformed into a strong intergovernmental structure. Digital communications play a vital role in shaping modern international relations," emphasized Kairat Sarybay.
Extensive cooperation between CICA member countries allows media representatives to exchange contacts and deepen interaction. Media participation facilitates broad coverage of pressing issues facing countries in the region today.
Khalaf Khalafov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, emphasized the importance of the media in disseminating reliable information, especially in the face of the spread of fake news.
Speaking about terrorist threats, he noted the need to resolve emerging issues peacefully.
The forum also addressed issues related to CICA's core activities. These include strengthening cooperation between states, women's empowerment, and cooperation in water resources.
The seventh CICA summit is expected in October of this year and will aim to further deepen cooperation between all member countries of the organization.
