Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states will step up efforts to work out concrete industrial cooperation projects in agribusiness. The relevant agreement was reached at a session of the EAEU Council on Agro-Industrial Policy with the participation of heads of authorized bodies of the five Eurasian countries in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 13 August, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) press service told BelTA.
Participants of the session considered progress in drafting the regulation on selecting joint industrial cooperation projects in agribusiness sectors and on providing financial assistance during their implementation by member states of the union. “We have to move from discussing industrial cooperation opportunities in the agribusiness sector to implementing concrete joint projects. For our states this area is of particular importance, as it makes it possible to combine manufacturing resources, technological resources, and financial resources, develop industrial cooperation chains, and boost the competitiveness of the agribusiness sector,” EEC Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agroindustrial Complex Gohar Barseghyan stressed.
The parties also considered further assistance with the unification of legislation in seed breeding and variety testing, tasks concerning the implementation of joint research and development work in the agribusiness sector.
Apart from that, the intention was confirmed to continue working out Kyrgyzstan’s initiative to prepare a draft agreement on the procedure for recognizing halal products within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
