Bishkek, Oct. 16, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan has received grant-based budget support from the European Union totaling 6 million euros (approximately 592 million soms) in recognition of the results achieved in implementing education sector reforms.
According to the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyz Republic, this financial support was provided under the "Education Sector Reform Contract" (ESRC) program.
The funds are not provided as an advance; rather, they are disbursed only after the country has met agreed-upon conditions and reached established benchmarks. This tranche confirms Kyrgyzstan's progress in implementing priority reform areas, as agreed upon with its European partners.
The program aims to improve the quality and accessibility of school education, enhance the educational system, and foster the development of modern competencies among students. Key priorities include the advancement of STEM education, the improvement of digital and media literacy, and the cultivation of environmental awareness and "green skills."
This financial support creates new opportunities for the continued development and modernization of the education system in Kyrgyz Republic. Cooperation with the European Union contributes to strengthening human capital, improving the quality of education, and laying the foundation for the country's sustainable development.
