Green Cities project discussed in Bishkek

Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2026 /Kabar/. Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic met with representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Bishkek.

According to the ministry's press service, during the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the regional "Green Cities" project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

The project covers Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic is the main partner from Kyrgyzstan.

The project's goal is to develop international and regional cooperation, exchange best practices in green urban development, build institutional capacity, and prepare master plans for sustainable urban development. The initiative includes activities to exchange experiences between cities in participating countries, develop climate solutions, and implement modern approaches to environmental management.

The parties expressed their willingness to further strengthen cooperation and implement specific practical measures within the "Green Cities" project aimed at creating a sustainable, environmentally safe urban environment in the Kyrgyz Republic.
