Bishkek, July 20, 2026. /Kabar/. New temperature records were recorded in Bishkek from July 17 to 19.
According to Kyrgyzhydromet, the maximum temperature on July 17 reached +41.6°C, exceeding the previous record for that day, set in 2015, when the temperature was +39.5°C.
On July 18, the air warmed up to +43.2°C, exceeding the maximum temperature of +41.3°C recorded in 1997. Furthermore, on July 19, the maximum temperature reached +43.5°C, breaking the 2019 record of +40.8°C.
The temperature on July 18-19 also exceeded the absolute maximum July temperature in the history of meteorological observations in Bishkek.
"Previously, the highest temperature was +42.8°C, recorded on July 30, 1983. Such extremely high temperatures are associated with the formation of a powerful anticyclone, which contributed to the influx of very hot air masses from the southern regions of Central Asia and prolonged heating of the surface layer of the atmosphere," the statement says.
