HIV testing available in all regions of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Dec. 2, 2025. /Kabar/. Umutkan Chokmorova, Director of the Republican Center for the Control of Blood-Borne Viral Hepatitis and HIV, spoke about HIV testing programs.

She noted that HIV testing is being conducted in 33 laboratories. This year, 619,881 enzyme immunoassay tests have been performed, of which 979 were positive.

According to her, rapid testing is being conducted at the NGO, which has already been completed by 24,334 people, of which 27 positive cases have been detected.

"In accordance with WHO recommendations, rapid testing has now been introduced in all hospitals: 22,426 people have been tested, with 125 positive cases detected," the doctor noted.

In addition, self-testing has been introduced. This year, 2,743 people have completed it, of which 10 tested positive.

"There are 10 mobile clinics operating in Kyrgyzstan, covering all regions. This year, they tested 18,894 people and identified two positive cases. Mobile clinics provide rapid testing for four infections: HIV, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis," added Umutkan Chokmorova.
