Bishkek, Sept. 2, 2026 /Kabar/. Iran has announced its readiness to participate in the construction of an oil refinery in Kyrgyzstan. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov discussed at the SCO summit, according to the Tasnim news agency.

"Iran plans to supply crude oil for the new refinery. The resulting petroleum products will be distributed between the two countries. This could be an important step in strengthening economic ties," the statement says.

Furthermore, Masoud Pezeshkian proposed creating a logistics center for Kyrgyzstan in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.

In turn, Sadyr Zhaparov invited Iranian oil exploration companies to cooperate in Kyrgyzstan. This opens new opportunities for a mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
