It's ready-made film set: American director on filming in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. During a press conference at Kabar Agency, American director Eric Yalgashev shared his impressions of the World Nomad Games and spoke of Kyrgyzstan's high cinematic potential.

The filmmaker expressed deep gratitude for the warm welcome, noting the hospitality and warmth of the locals, and expressed his intention to implement joint film projects in the republic.

"Your country has a big heart and soul. In the future, I would like to launch film production here. I am grateful to you for hosting such a large-scale event as the Nomad Games. "We're simply amazed by Kyrchyn; it's a ready-made film set. What people around the world spend years creating, you built in just two months. It's incredible work. I met the production's director, Altynbek Maksutov, and invited him to Hollywood to give a master class to our American directors and filmmakers. Nowhere in the world has anything like this been created in two months; we're truly amazed. I'm sure the directors won't just fly here, they'll come running. I think more films will be shot in Kyrchyn and Bishkek," said Erik Yalgashev.

The director also echoed the emotions of his colleagues, including American martial artist and actor Don "The Dragon" Wilson, over the beauty of Lake Issyk-Kul, calling it one of the true wonders of the world.

"Your Lake Issyk-Kul is so beautiful. It's one of the wonders of the world, where the lake's surface merges with the sky." Don "Dragon" was so amazed that he asked if it was a sea or an ocean," he added.
