Bishkek, Aug 4, 2026. /Kabar/. The State Agency for Civil Service and Local Self-Government of Kyrgyz Republic and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) today, August 4, signed a memorandum of understanding on post-project support for the "My Village project.
According to the agency, the event was attended by Elchibek Dzhantaev, Director of the State Agency; Kim Kwangjae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kyrgyz Republic; and Lim So-yeon, head of the KOICA Representative Office in Kyrgyzstan.
The signed memorandum aims to strengthen the results of the "My Village" project, which was implemented from 2019 to 2023 in 30 villages in the Chui, Osh, and Batken regions, and to further support rural communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Elchibek Dzhantaev noted that KOICA has long been one of Kyrgyzstan's key strategic partners in human resource development, strengthening public administration, and ensuring sustainable development. He emphasized that, as part of the agency's educational programs, state and municipal employees undergo training and professional development in the Republic of Korea, and successfully apply the acquired knowledge in the implementation of government reforms.
Ambassador Kim Kwangjae noted that sustainable development of rural areas is possible with the active participation of the residents themselves. According to him, the signed memorandum will consolidate the project's achievements and continue successful initiatives.
Koica Representative Lim So-yeon stated that post-project support will be aimed at developing initiatives to increase household incomes, restoring and sustainably using existing infrastructure, and building the capacity of local leaders.
The total budget for the post-project support program is $670,000. It will be implemented in 2026–2027 in the Osh and Batken regions.
