Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2026 /Kabar/. The Republic of Korea is ready to provide Kyrgyzstan with advisory and expert assistance in developing spatial dataб Kim Won-dae, Director General of the National Institute of Geographic Information of the Republic of Korea said.
According to him, South Korea has recently been actively developing spatial data and can share its experience with Kyrgyzstan in developing relevant policies, standards, and improving the legal framework.
"We want to help Kyrgyzstan achieve success without the mistakes we made," he noted.
Kim Won-dae also announced that in the future, South Korea will be able to assist Kyrgyzstan in the use of satellite imagery.
He emphasized that spatial data is widely used in the daily lives of South Korean citizens.
"Spatial data plays a vital role in the daily lives of South Korean citizens. It's used in every aspect of our lives. We could live without it before, but now we can't imagine life without it," he said.
According to Kim Won-dae, citizens access and use spatial data online. Specifically, they have access to 3D maps, which they can use to find the data they need based on their interests.
"For example, they can use them to find destinations. Spatial data can also be used, for example, for self-driving cars," he added.
