Bishkek, Sept. 14, 2026 /Kabar/. Representatives of the Gwangju Cultural Center and artists from South Korea arrived in Kyrgyzstan, during which they are learning about the country's cultural heritage and participating in cultural events, the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy reported.
The delegation included Kang Hyunmi, Director of the Gwangju Cultural Center and Director of the Gwangju International Foundation; Choi Jinsil, Manager of the Gwangju International Foundation; and artists Han Jungmin, Kang Naroo, Lee Ingoog, Lee Gunsoo, and Seo Hyeongjun.
During the week-long visit, the Korean art representatives visited several regions of Kyrgyzstan, where they explored the country's historical, cultural, and scenic sites. The guests were particularly interested in the history of the Kyrgyz people, national culture, and cultural heritage.
The Korean delegation also took part in a cultural event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, which was held in the Talas region. The guests presented their artistic performances.
Representatives from South Korea also visited the Kyrgyz National Theater "Manas," where they learned about the theater's activities, creative direction, and the work of its artists.
In 2023, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Kyrgyz National Theater "Manas" and the Gwangju Cultural Center of the Republic of Korea. This agreement provides for the exchange of experience between the two countries' artistic groups, participation in cultural events, and the development of mutual creative ties.
