Bishkek, Sept. 25, 2026 /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeenbek Kulubaev discussed Kyrgyzstan's upcoming work in the UN Security Council, as well as the climate and mountain agendas, with Khalilur Rahman, President of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the meeting took place on September 24 in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Jeenbek Kulubaev congratulated Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly and wished him success in implementing the priorities of his presidency.
Minister Kulubaev outlined the Kyrgyz side's key initiatives and priorities for the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, highlighting in particular Kyrgyzstan's upcoming tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council starting in January 2027.
Special attention was paid to the climate and mountain agendas. Jeenbek Kulubaev briefed on preparations for the "Bishkek+25" High-Level Global Mountain Summit, scheduled for 2027, and invited the UN General Assembly President to actively participate in the event. It is noted that, following the meeting, the parties agreed on mutual support and reaffirmed their readiness to work together to strengthen international security and sustainable development.
