Bishkek, July 13, 2026. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Customs Service, Almaz Saliev met the US Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Leslie Viguerie.
According to the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan, during the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Kyrgyz-American cooperation in the customs sphere, as well as the further development of collaboration on issues of mutual interest.
One of the key topics was the resumption of cooperation programs to combat the illicit movement of nuclear, radioactive, and other prohibited materials. Kyrgyz side expressed interest in upgrading radiation monitoring equipment, improving the qualifications of specialists, and implementing modern technologies to detect and prevent the illegal trafficking of hazardous materials.
Special attention was paid to the prospects for establishing direct working contacts between the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The parties discussed the implementation of information exchange mechanisms, improving mutual legal and administrative assistance mechanisms, and coordinating efforts to combat transnational crime, the illegal movement of goods, and strengthening export controls.
Furthermore, they discussed issues related to the development of risk management systems, the application of modern data analysis technologies, ensuring the security of international supply chains, and personnel training.
During the meeting, the US Ambassador was presented with the State Customs Service's achievements in digitalization, including modern information systems that automate key customs processes, as well as the capabilities of the Situation Center, which provides online monitoring of key indicators and analytical support for management decisions.
