Kyrgyz FM meets with deputy PM of Kingdom of Lesotho

Bishkek, April 25, 2025. /Kabar/. On April 24, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Nthomeng Majara, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the international conference “Global Mountain Dialogue for Sustainable Development.”

In his welcoming remarks, the head of the foreign ministry emphasized that the deputy prime minister's visit would serve as an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Lesotho, as well as with the African continent as a whole.

During the talks, special attention was given to issues related to the sustainable development of mountain regions. Minister Kulubaev presented the “Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions for 2023–2027” and invited Lesotho to actively participate in its implementation, including in the lead-up to the Global Mountain Summit “Bishkek+25,” which will take place in 2027.

The deputy prime minister of Lesotho expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to take part in the conference. She noted Lesotho’s interest in advancing the global mountain agenda and expressed readiness to support the development of cooperation between African countries and Kyrgyzstan, particularly in the context of sustainable development and international partnership.

The parties discussed prospects for Kyrgyz-African cooperation, including the exchange of experience and technologies in agriculture, light industry, and environmental protection.

Cooperation within multilateral frameworks, including collaboration under the auspices of the United Nations, was also addressed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Kulubaev thanked Majara for her visit and expressed hope for the further deepening and expansion of mutually beneficial relations with Lesotho.
