Bishkek, Feb. 20, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov met with Alexandra Solovyova, UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyz Republic, the parties discussed key areas of further cooperation in the context of the priorities for the development of the Kyrgyz Republic's healthcare system through 2030.
According to the Ministry of Health, special attention was paid to issues of institutional strengthening of the healthcare system, development of human resources, digitalization of medical services, and increasing the sustainability of the national healthcare system.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the development of procurement mechanisms for medicines and medical devices through the UN system. Further steps in cooperation with UNDP regarding centralized procurement aimed at ensuring access to quality medicines at optimal prices, as well as increasing the efficiency and transparency of procurement processes, were discussed. Progress in implementing the agreements reached, as well as in signed agreements and preparatory work to develop lists of medicines and medical devices, was noted.
Kyrgyz Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov expressed gratitude to UNDP for its contribution to the implementation of tuberculosis programs and support for reforms in the healthcare system, emphasizing the importance of using international procurement mechanisms to improve the efficiency of public resources.
The meeting also addressed the transition phase of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria grant. Kyrgyz Ministry of Health is considered the primary grant recipient for the next grant cycle, and therefore, work is underway to ensure a consistent transition of functions and further strengthen national program management capacity. Special attention was paid to preparing an application for a new grant cycle and ensuring the sustainability of existing programs, including maintaining access to diagnostics and treatment for vulnerable populations.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to further expanding their partnership aimed at developing a modern, sustainable, and effective healthcare system in the Kyrgyz Republic.
