Bishkek, April 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, the first meeting of the updated members of Jogorku Kenesh committee on Protection of Women's and Children's Rights and Gender Equality was held under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev.
As reported by the parliament, the meeting was attended by deputies, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and international organizations, as well as specialists working in this area.
Marlen Mamataliev noted that Kyrgyzstan, following the results of the 2025 elections, was recognized as the country that has shown the greatest progress in the world in increasing the representation of women in parliament.
Currently, there are 31 female deputies in Kyrgyz Parliament. The results of the consistent policy of the head of state aimed at ensuring equality were discussed at the meeting.
The requirement is to increase the share of women in management positions in state bodies to 30% by 2030. More than 94% of the participants in the "Social Contract" program are rural women. For example, in Talas region alone, in March, 71 families received certificates worth 150 thousand soms to start their own business.
The chairman emphasized that the work of the committee should not be formal, but platform should bring real results.
The meeting continued with proposals and discussions aimed at protecting the rights of women and children.
