Kyrgyz Parliament to consider scheduling presidential elections on September 17

Bishkek, Aug. 26, 2026. /Kabar/. Jogorku Kenesh(Kyrgyz Parliament) will consider scheduling presidential elections on September 17, Speaker Marlen Mamataliev spoke in his interview with Kabar news agency.

According to Marlen Mamataliev, the first parliamentary session will take place on September 2. The calendar will be adopted and committee work will begin.

"The most important event this year is the presidential elections. According to the Constitution, the Jogorku Kenesh must approve them and adopt a corresponding resolution. According to the law, since the elections are scheduled for January 27, we must make the relevant decision within less than four months, by September 27. We plan to consider this issue on September 17, ten days earlier.
