Kyrgyz president visits the regions, solves unaddressed problems

Bishkek, Oct. 27, 2026 /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz president’s trips to the country’s regions and his open dialogue with local residents make it possible to identify on the spot problems that have gone unaddressed for years, and to plan ways to resolve them. Zhumakadyr Atabekov, a diplomat and the first representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN shares his view with Kabar.

According to him, relying solely on local officials for information about the situation in the regions is insufficient. A personal visit by the head of state and direct communication with the people help to gain a deeper understanding of existing issues.

"The president speaks openly with the people, and they are free to express their opinions. Information provided by the heads of regions, districts, or local administrations (*ayyl okmotu*) may be incomplete. Therefore, it is crucial for the president to travel there himself and see the population's problems with his own eyes," he said.

In the diplomat's view, the issues raised during these regional visits can be collected and analyzed, serving as a foundation for developing concrete action plans. This, in turn, allows for the monitoring of progress and the verification that problems are actually being solved.

He also highlighted the importance of holding open meetings with local residents and systematically gathering their proposals and appeals.

"Consolidating the input received from the public, identifying priority tasks, and addressing them in a phased manner will have a positive impact on regional development and the effectiveness of state governance," Atabekov added.
