Bishkek, June 18, 2026. /Kabar/. Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev received US Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Leslie Wiger.
As reported by the parliament, the parties exchanged views on enhancing relations between the two states and developing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The parties also held talks on the current state of cooperation and discussed the conditions for issuing visas.
More precisely, the speaker expressed concern about the tightening of the visa regime for citizens of Kyrgyzstan and requested assistance in reviewing the amount of the imposed deposit.
Ambassador Leslie Wigery thanked the speaker for the warm welcome and added that the United States pays special attention to cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
He also explained the visa situation, noting that the introduced requirements were made to prevent violations in this area.
At the same time, he expressed his suggestions for improving the investment climate, arguing that this is not only one-sided, but also of particular importance for the development of both countries.
The meeting discussed proposals for enhancing relations in the humanitarian sphere and developing partnership in general.
