Kyrgyz speaker: Our country's prestige will undoubtedly grow even stronger

Bishkek, June 4, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan's appointment as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council is a huge victory, states Marlen Mamataliev, Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament).

He congratulated all Kyrgyzstanis on this historic victory and noted the tremendous work behind this success.

According to him, a platform is now being created for Kyrgyzstan to participate in the consideration of large-scale global issues and to address its own challenges.

"This is extremely important for us. Over the past five years, under the leadership of President Sadyr Zhaparov, our country has embarked on a course of development, and international financial institutions and leaders of other countries are talking about economic growth. "Thanks to the head of state's balanced and proactive foreign policy, we are achieving such success. This work is the result of a great deal of hard work. Our country's prestige will undoubtedly grow even stronger, creating a platform for participating in the discussion of major global issues and addressing our own challenges. Furthermore, this will create favorable conditions for the country's tourism potential and attract investment," the speaker emphasized.

Kyrgyzstan was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. Total of 191 countries participated in the election, resulting in a landslide victory for Kyrgyzstan, with 142 votes. The Kyrgyz Republic's official tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council will begin on January 1, 2027.
